- The Eagle Hotel – public bar is relaxed and friendly, with good pub meals and a selection of local beers (Cromarty Brewery) and whisky. Families are always made welcome.
- The Highland Larder – takeaway food van, just by the beach car park (£16 for lobster roll). A large box of chips is a popular option after a dip in the sea!
- Surf and Turf – great for takeaway fish and chips or burgers (halloumi fries and scallop salad are delicious).
- Greens at the Courthouse – great food (see below). Check out the giant mural of famous Dornoch residents.
- Harry Gow – bakery, good for takeaway pastries, cakes etc…
- Dornoch Stores – deli for nice takeaway snacks, cheeses, local produce, wine, whisky, and gin (and ice cream!).
- Luigi – top choice for a special night out in the evening, with delicious food and great service. During the day, it is less formal (see below).
- Milk and Honey – does great breakfast/brunch alongside coffee and cakes.
- Dornoch Castle – has a nice beer garden in the summer months. The public bar has an extensive whisky collection. Home also to Dornoch Gin.

A café during the day, while in the evening, takes a more formal feel, with a great menu, making the most of local produce, especially seafood. Seared scallops with pancetta. Crabcakes with sweet chili jam. Everybody loves the cheese soufflé. Friendly service. Book in advance.
